Why Us
We care about the environment. We over seed a variety of forages into our pastures. Studies have shown that methane emissions in cattle decrease dramatically when they eat a diet consisting of a wide variety of forages. The over seed (no-till) method of planting keeps the soil intact which enables the soil to hold onto carbon, prevents soil erosion and helps the soil retain nutrients and moisture.
Our cows eat only pasture and hay, making them less prone to sickness. The grass-fed diet produces leaner beef that is higher in Omega-3 fatty acids, beta-carotene, vitamin E, B-vitamins (thiamin and riboflavin), calcium, magnesium, potassium and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). It is also lower in saturated fats that are linked with heart disease. We do not give antibiotics or hormones to our meat animals.
“Emerging data indicate that when livestock are eating a diverse array of plants on pasture, additional health-promoting phytonutrients – terpenoids, phenols, carotenoids, and anti-oxidants – become concentrated in their meat and milk. Several phytochemicals found in grass-fed meat and milk are in quantities comparable to those found in plant foods known to have anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic, and cardioprotective effects.” cited from “Health-Promoting Phytonutrients Are Higher in Grass-Fed Meat and Milk” by Stephan van Vliet1*, Frederick D. Provenza2 and Scott L. Kronberg3
Land stewardship is important to us. We use rotational grazing practices, foster plant diversity and recycle cattle manure. This enhances biodiversity in the soil which in turn creates high-quality environmental health for our animals and the wildlife on the ranch.
75-80% of grass-fed beef is shipped from abroad. Locally raised grass-fed beef reduces your carbon footprint and supports your local economy.
